Arthritis and Food – The good, the bad and the ugly...

Since diseases are caused by our eating habits, our way of life and the air we breathe, we can make changes to restore our immune system.

Our immune system will heal us when we feed it properly. Your health, good or bad is in your hands.

Please remember, you are the master of your own body. You, and only you, can control what you put into your body.

For the Optimum in health it is important we do not eat "foodless foods". Most people are well fed and still are MALNOURISHED.

Here is a list of what you should and should not eat. Since everyone is different you will have to see exactly what it is you are eating that is causing you problems with your health.

The things that you should give up, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD are:

Coffee: More than one cup is not good for you.

More than 4 cups of coffee a day, the rate of heart attacks increases to 50%.

No sodas or anything that says diet, sugar free, decaffeinated or “Lite”.

You can have herbal teas, and green teas. If you absolutely have to have a sweetener, use a sugar substitute that can be found in a health food store. Beware... Some sugar substitutes have been known to cause cancers.

Please stop eating all white flour. Read the health report Dangers Of White Flour

You should not eat flour of any kind. Please give it up for at least 3 weeks and see how you feel. If you then want to add it back into your diet, add it back slowly to see how it makes you feel.

No more sugar of any kind. You can have a small amount of real honey that is unprocessed and raw. If it is not unprocessed, do not buy it. The best source is a health food store or a local beekeeper. Look for them in the yellow pages.

No cheese, yogurt, milk or cottage cheese. You CAN have real butter and real cream.

WHAT YOU CAN HAVE...

Meat: At least 70 grams of meat protein a day. Chicken, fish, pork, turkey, seafood, tuna, salmon etc.

Eggs: They really are a perfect food. After all they have all it takes to make a chicken!!

Vegetables: You will need to test ones like tomatoes and potatoes, they can have a bad effect on some people. The green and orange vegetables are marvelous.

Try to introduce a new vegetable from the market every time you go. Try vegetables from other countries.

Onions and garlic and all seasonings are fine. Do not use salt. You can get salt-free seasonings at any market.

Fruits: They are touchy, you will need to test which ones your body can tolerate fruits that are mostly sugar. They can have a bad effect on some people.

Some good fruits are grapefruits, kiwis and berries but not strawberries. You can have them fresh or frozen. Just read the label and make sure there is no sugar or additives added.

Do not eat bananas, peaches, oranges, pineapple, pears, and melons of any kind. Or any fruits that is sweet. At least not until your health is better.

Water: Drink the equivalent of half your body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 150 pounds drink 75 ounces of water, etc. The best way is to put the total water for the day in one container and be sure it is gone by at least 3 hours before bed. Don't want to be up all night, do we?

The Importance of Enzymes

Even vitamins, minerals, and hormones cannot do their jobs without enzymes. They are the catalysts, the dynamic power that gives us our ability to function at the highest level of good health.

Our bodies cannot exist without enzymes.

I will be talking about digestive plant enzymes. For proper digestion to happen, 4 major enzymes are required.

Amylase

Amylase aids the digestion of carbohydrates and starches. (Fruit, vegetables, pasta, and bread)

Protease

Protease enzymes digest proteins (red meats, fowl, fish, and nuts. If improperly digested, protein putrefies in the system, causing indigestion and toxicity.

Lipase

Lipase breaks down fats and assists in balancing fatty acids. Fats not thoroughly digested turn rancid and create pungent odors and poor cholesterol balance.

Cellulase

Cellulase breaks down cellulose (the fiber found in vegetables and other plant materials) however; the body does not produce cellulase. Undigested fiber leaves a wax like residue in the small intestine and adds to absorption ills.

Enzymes are destroyed by the heat produced when we boil, microwave, or pressure cook food. When the temperature rises above 118 degrees Fahrenheit while steaming, even that process can destroy enzymes.

80% of our body’s energy is used by the digestive process. If you run down, are under stress, living in a very hot or very cold climate, pregnant, or a frequent air traveler, enormous quantities of extra enzymes are required by your body.

You must supplement your enzymes. The medical profession tells us that all disease is due to a lack or imbalance of enzymes.

Our very lives depend on enzymes particularly when you have any sort of inflammation in your body.

Research has known for years that enzymes are effective in aiding the body to properly use the nutrients provided in food and other supplements.

This is particularly helpful with regard to proper digestion. Equally as important, but not nearly as well know, is the fact that enzymes play a critical role in promoting healthy joints and a healthy response to body inflammation such as all forms of the over 100 types of arthritis.

Research shows that, in addition to other factors, joint pain stems from undigested proteins and fats which form uric acid crystals that get “caught” in joints.

Enzymes stimulate the healthy production of cytokines that stop inflammation. They also aid the body in cleaning up undigested food, debris, swollen joints and tissues.

By helping keep the body free from inflammation, natural healing and normal joint health can be achieved.

A body of physical labor can really take it toll on a body. Any of the NAIDS harm the body. Joint challenges that drugs can cover up, can be aided with the proper enzymes.

TRILLIONS of cells work constantly to maintain an acceptable balance of enzymes to keep the body working. Then something happens…could be a virus, strenuous exercise, an emotional crisis, breathing unclean air, staging a temper tantrum or eating a fat-laden meal.

Then the balance of enzymes is depleted. The solution is to make a daily intake of enzymes.

An Arthritis Drug Warning

Before I overcame my arthritis naturally, I spent 43 years dreading every day, taking untold amounts of drugs and then fearing the dangerous side effects they would cause.

Please do your due diligence and research each and every drug you are taking or about to take.

The following is an ad, which I read in a health magazine for HUMIRA and I want to share it with you.

It is approved for reducing the signs and symptoms, slowing the progression of joint damage, and improving physical function in adult patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis who have not responded well to other RA medicines.

Called DMARDs (disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs) suca as methotrexate, Humra can be used alone or with methotrexate or other DMARDs.

Do not start taking Humira if you have any type of infection.

Do you seriously think you should ever try a drug like this?
Please do your due diligence and research each and every drug you are taking or about to take.

Ask yourself… Is this for me? Would I be better off to make my immune system stronger or should I take all the chances spelled out above.

It is your body and you are the one who will benefit or pay the price of having other health issues when using drugs.

Doctors tell us to keep doing your exercises, continue dieting to keep our weight down and take our medications.

What else is a doctor going to say? The pressure to use more and more drugs is overwhelming. It is not their fault! It is ours!!

We go to them for a magic bullet and expect them to heal us... Is this fair to the doctors? Of course not!

Relief For Arthritis Sufferers

How your body and mind affects your arthritis. Three things you can do that will help relieve your arthritis.

Did you know no matter how bad you hurt or how sick you are, that everything you do, think and feel will have an effect on your body?

This is particularly true for people that suffer from arthritis.

Take a close look at your mental attitude, your diet and your exercise. Mental activity, diet and exercise all work together. These three aspects of your life will either continue to make you sick or they will help you to become and stay well.

Let’s take a look at the mental attitude part of this.

Take a look at your attitude.... What has positive and negative affects on your attitude? You will make a great difference in the way you feel mentally and physically by enhancing on the positive and removing the negative influences in your life.

Every thought you have your body will reacts to that thought.

Positive thoughts and feelings will create positive results, while negative thoughts and feeling will create negative results.

So if you are a calm and positive person your health will be better than a person who is anxious and negative.

To make yourself more serene, stand tall, throw your shoulders back, lift up your head and smile. Try it. Don’t you feel better?

Now stand up and look down, slump your shoulders and frown. Now how do you feel? Did you feel the difference?

Here is an example of what I am talking about.

When I was 16 my bedroom was on the third floor on a semi-busy street. One afternoon my girl friend and I were leaning out the window watching people as they walked by.

Down the street came a man in his 20’s, who we thought looked older… dragging himself along. His shoulders drooped. He shuffled his feet and his clothes just hung on him.

We both gave a “wolf whistle” and the man looked all around not knowing where the whistle came from. He then straightened up, put his shoulders back, and strutted down the street whistling.

It made a lasting impression on me because he felt a positive feeling which caused a positive effect.

Just think back to your childhood. When you were praised how did you look and feel? When you were scolded how did you look and feel?

When your body is tense or you feel unhappy or have negative thoughts your body will react and your arthritis will hurt more than when you are calm, happy and have positive thoughts.

Be aware of your mental attitude and note how different situations have an effect your arthritis. Then you can take charge and change the affects they have on your arthritis. Out with the Bad and in with the Good!!!

You are not responsible for what others do or say, you are only responsible for how you react to what others do or say.

Now about the foods you eat

When you have arthritis it is more important that you have a diet made up of 75% raw and 25% cooked foods.

Eating raw fruits takes less energy to digest than eating cooked foods therefore taking less energy to clean out the toxic waste in your body. The less toxic waste you have in your body the less your arthritis will hurt.

We are the only species that eats cooked foods and we are the only species that suffer with so many degenerative diseases.

Arthritis is one of the main degenerative diseases. Over 90 Million people in the United States have arthritis.

Exercise relieves the pain of arthritis

If you have arthritis you know how hard it is to get up after sitting for any period of time. You’re so toxic and tense that you hurt to move.

Try some simple exercises in your chair.

1. Swing your arms around in circles.
2. Lift up one leg at a time.
3. Turn your body as far to the right as you can and then to the left.
4. While sitting tighten your buttocks and lift your body up from the chair. You won’t lift it far if at all but you will feel the body lift.

Start with just doing these simple exercises three or four times each for a few minutes and working yourself up to 10 times three or four times a day. If you like to walk start slow. If it is only 10 feet, walk 10 feet. Everyday increase it another 5 feet.

You will be amazed how better you will feel.

Swimming or exercising in water is marvelous. In the water your body is weightless. You do not have to swim you can just walk back and forth or do the above exercises. Try doing this at least 20 minutes three times a week.

The trick to exercising and staying with it is to do something you enjoy and with a friend or a group when possible.

My daughter Susan and I meet at the pool where I live 3 times a week for 20 minutes to half hour. It is fun, we get to chat and we do our exercises. It is better than meeting in a restaurant and sitting and eating bad foods.

Always ask your doctor before starting an exercise program of any kind.

You are the only one that can change your life. Do you want to shuffle along or do you want to strut along whistling? The choice is yours.

Drug Delusion - Part 2 - How the organisms treat drugs in the body?

Drugs, or medicines if you will, are said to be laxative, antibiotic, tranquilizer, stimulant, steroid, emetic, cathartic, or have other special properties.

Let it be distinctly understood that these describe body reactions to drugs and are not the properties of drugs.

Drugs do not act. They only have capability of making chemical combinations that interfere with or destroy vital body processes.

All the actions are those of the living organisms. If drugs acted in the human body they would act in dead bodies as well as living ones.

By changing the general name of drug substances and calling them medicines, victim’s qualms are put at rest. And the pharmacological and treating professions imagine they are scientific.

Many, many years ago all large bottles of drugs were taken to the drug stores and had the skull and crossbow on them Marked poison. Today you don’t see that but the drugs have not changed.

By this hocus pocus it changes its nature from a death-dealing agent to that of a life- restoring agent. It has become a healing substance.

Was ever any superstition more absurd?

The whole practice of giving poisons under the guise of medicines to cure disease is an outrage upon the human body. It deserves to be roundly and emphatically condemned.

Of course if you do not question the physicians they patronize, they you will never get off the cycle of drugs. And for heavens sake, read the long paper that by law has to come with every drug. You might just take the drug back and say no and start taking charge of our health yourself. Then with the doctors guidance you have a team.

It does not matter that taking a poison called medicine may feel better for it. Opium and marijuana users among other drug takers feel better. They really just don’t feel pain.

The tobacco smoker feels better after a cigarette, the coffee drinker feels better.

The headache sufferer feels better after aspire. The disturbed person feels better after a tranquilizer etc.

All this is illusory. What is true is that the strength and energy exhibited upon taking tonics and stimulants represents a draft upon the reserves of the body, that, rather than giving energy and strength, the substances cause the body to summon its remaining resources to expel the offenders.

Do drugs save lives? The common view is that deadly drugs serve a life-saving end. It would seem apparent that lives have been saved by the drug penicillin. Blood transfusions are credited with countless lives saved. Intravenous feeding is credited with life-saving virtues.

Complied statistics by the defenders of these practices would seem to bear out the contentions. But, if their reasoning is followed to the logical end—if their premises are examined and the alternatives considered, their argument land in a quaking bog that quickly swallows them up.

A simple truth that over the last hundred years or so at any time around the world that doctors go on strike, the hospitals have less patients and the death rate goes down.

Years and years ago a doctor friend told me if you want to stay well stay out of the hospital.

Over 400,000 die each year from either the wrong drug given or by misdiagnosing the problem.

I am 79 Due to an accident I had two spinal operations and a hip replacement and let me tell you I wish I had never stepped foot in the place. These were spread over 6 years and today although in great health I have limited motion in my back due to the two operations that ultimately fused 4 vertebra in my lower spine, muscles were cut and I have constant pain across my lower back from one side to the under and a constant feeling of numbness.
I can only stand for 8 minutes at a time and can only walk about 50 feet before having to stop. And then I pay the price later.

I know the doctors did the best they could with what they know but I should have passed.

The Drug Delusion Part 1 - Are the benefits what the medical world claims?

Drugs are credited with benefits that are spurious and wholly the figment of unthinking acceptance of appearances.

Because the drug delusion is so easily demonstrated and proven to be poor and flimsy fiction, the practice off drug medication would seem an easy target to destroy.

But those looking for the Magic of “Cure” sustain it.

Because humans insist on indulging perverted practices and refuse to recognize their sufferings to be the results of their own flaunting the laws of life-because they believe that the human body, like mechanical contrivances, can be “fixed up”.

Because they believe that they have been invaded by devils of some sort, germs, viruses, they believe in drugs.

Americans are pitifully exploited for sticking with these beliefs. There is BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS at stake in keeping us believing that drugs cure. So we not only pay economically but more tragically, physically.

We are led to be unconcerned about our way of life. The television urges us to overeat and don’t worry the gas and side effects can be over come with this drug or that drug. Go ahead and indulge all the causes of disease and suffering. These “NEW” drugs will five you relief.

They keep telling us they are on the verge of a cure for cancer. So why should you worry about this now. The medical profession hasn’t cured anything. They don’t even have a cure for the common cold.

They hide the side effects of the drugs way back in the last pages of their literature that tells you what these side effects are. Some are much worse than what you are taking the drug for.

Have you even read the literature that the pharmacist has to give you? Most have not or they did not read far. The print is too small. They just take the drug and when they have side effects the doctor assures them that they have a drug to overcome the side effects. Sound familiar?

I was led down that path for 43 years.

Then a few years after a new miracle drug hits the market they “discover ? “ that there are more deaths from taking the drug than they factored in. They pay off some law suits and continue on.

Your health issues come from the lack of care you have given to your body. To the way you eat and live. To the fact that you are not giving your immune system the minerals and nutrients needed to keep your cells healthy so they can destroy unhealthy cells.

We do not want to admit that they way we have treated our own bodies is wrong.

It is known that giving a healthy person drugs you can make them quite sick. We are fed the allusion that if we give a drug that makes a well person sick, will, if given to a person who is sick, that they will be restored to health.

Dr. James Jackson observed: Is it not monstrous in the sphere of physical life to tell a an in health that what will make him sick when well, will make him well when sick, as it is in the sphere of moral life of meant to say that what will make a holy man unholy, will make a depraved man pure?

There is a deadly and irrepressible antagonism between vital instincts of the living body and poisons. The antagonism of the living organism to the presence of poisons is absolute and not relative.

That is, it makes no difference by whom or how poisons are given, nor at what time of day or night they are administered, to whom they are given, or the condition of the person taking them – the poisonous character of medicines is not affected by circumstances.

As soon as a drug is taken the powers of life, such as they may be, devote themselves to the task of expelling the poisons.

Am I too vehement? To judgmental? Too naïve? I think not. I have studied this for 25 years. The conclusion is irrefutable. Give the body what it needs and your body will repair itself.

Is this 100%? No, some people wait too long and make it too hard for the body to respond. We are all different.

The Drug “Celebrex

Word for word from their ad in a National Magazine

Do you suffer from osteoarthritis?

There are many different treatment options. Ask your doctor about the benefits and risks of each one.

Prescription Celebrex is indicated for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and adult rheumatoid arthritis.

IMPORTANT INFORMATON: Celebrex may increase the chance of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death.

It should not be used right before or after certain heart surgeries. Serious skin reactions or stomach problems such as bleeding can occur without warning and may cause DEATH. (I PUT THIS IN LARGE PRINT)

The most common side effects are indigestion, diarrhea, and stomach pain. People with aspirin sensitive asthma or other arthritis medicines or certain drugs called sulfonamides should not take Celebrex.

Tell you doctor if you have high blood pressure, kidney or liver problems.

On the back page of the ad, it adds

This is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug NSAIDs

These drugs may increase the chance of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death.

The chances of getting an ulcer or bleeding increases when taking other medicines called “corticosteroids” and “anticoagulants”

Or smoking or drinking alcohol or getting older or having poor health.

Do not take if you have had an asthma attack.

These are the serious side effects of taking Celebrex

Heart attack… stroke… high blood pressure… heart failure from fluid retention… kidney problems including kidney failure… low red blood cells…life threatening skin reactions… life threatening allergic reactions… liver problems including liver failure. And asthma attack in people who have asthma.

Other side effects include…

Stomach pain… constipation… diarrhea… gas… heartburn… and vomiting… dizziness… nausea.

What Is Arthritis

Your desire to stay well must be continuous. You need to remind yourself, every time you plan to eat or do grocery shopping, about the reason why certain foods are not good for you.

Foods labeled "enriched" means they are first denatured, then partially restored. That attractive color in food is to make us eat it, but it and words like "quick and easy," "smooth," are really warnings to us that we should not eat it. I believe that people are changing and going back to basic foods. Natural foods are making sense to those who study and learn.

Read labels: If they have chemicals added, do not buy them.

Watch out for fatigue. It is always present when we have arthritis. It is one of the earliest symptoms. There are two other signs that are fairly constant. A check should be made to see if you are in this condition. If so...why? Contact the best doctor for arthritis in your area and be sure and inform him that you have become knowledgeable in this field and that you will take an active part in your treatment. It is not fair to expect a doctor to heal you. He can guide you, but the journey is taken by you... not him.

One sign mentioned above is the lowering of the amount of hemoglobin or oxygen- carrying power of the blood... usually to around 70% when 100% is normal. The other sign is high blood sedimentation rate. These are signs only a doctor can check.

What is arthritis?

The word arthritis comes from the Greek words "Arthron" and "It is," which literally means joint inflammatory disease. However, it is not only joints but connective tissue throughout the body. Also, muscles and soft tissue of several organs can be involved in the inflammatory process. Close to one hundred different conditions are classified under arthritis. All have common symptoms of aches and pains in the joints and connective tissue throughout the body.

Rheumatism is a word that is interchangeable with the word arthritis and is mostly used in European countries and by old school doctors. How arthritis inflammation starts is not well understood. Several causes have been ascribed, such as injury, infection, auto-immune diseases (body producing antibodies against itself), calcium and vitamin D deficiency.

Inflammation itself causes further damage in the joints and tissues, making them stiff and making normal movement difficult. The symptoms and some of the signs of arthritis can be classified under one of the five most common kinds. The most common form is called degenerative or Osteo-arthritis. The cause of the disease is associated with malabsorbtion of calcium and vitamin D.

Although it is more common in the elderly, young people are not immune to it and, most recently, statistics indicate that it is showing up even in babies of three and four months old. In its severest form, pain might cause disability, even committing the arthritic to a wheelchair. This form of arthritis, while labeled incurable by the conventional doctors, in reality, responds excellently to nutrition therapy. The erosion of the joint bones can be stopped or retarded by correcting calcium, manganese, vitamin D, metabolism of the body.

The most serious forms of arthritis are Rheumatoid arthritis and a disease closely related to Rheumatoid arthritis, but affecting the organs, is Systemic Lupus Erythe-matosus.

These two forms of arthritis can be very debilitating and conventional treatments require such undesirable drugs as cortisone. The patient with R.A. or Lupus can be helped by nutritional therapy. Dr. Airola gives several case studies of R.A. and their cures by nutritional therapy in his book "There Is a Cure for Arthritis"

In the "Practical Encyclopedia of Natural Healing," by Mark Bricklin, he tells about Betty Hull of Corpus Christi, Texas, who founded a non-profit organization, LEANON, which publishes "Lupus Lifeline." She outlined her personal nutrition program which put her condition into remission and off drugs.

Gout, which is referred to in literature and books written hundreds of years ago as "The King's Disease" is purely a nutritional disease. Genetically predisposed individuals produce too much uric acid. Crystals of the sodium salt of this uric acid deposit themselves in the joints and the kidney tissue.

The inflammatory process can cause permanent damage. The simplest way to prevent gouty attacks is to limit eating food that contains purine, such as sardines, bouillon, meat extracts, organ meats, anchovies, mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, artichokes, peas and beans.

The Merck Manual says drugs are so effective in lowering the serum rate content rate that restriction of the purine content of the diet is unnecessary. Really!!! Do we want to continue eating bad foods and then take drugs and pay the price in money and misery or do we want to eat the right foods and not take drugs? Doctors lean towards drugs. I believe in proper foods and no drugs. What do you think?

Mark Bricklin, in "Natural Healing," tells about using cherries to do the trick. Ludwig W. BIau, Ph.D., says he had so much torment in his big toe he was confined to a wheelchair. One day, by accident, he ate a whole bowl of cherries and the next morning the pain in his foot was almost gone. He continued to eat six cherries every day and was soon out of the wheelchair.

If he forgot to take the cherries, it only took a few days for the stabbing pain to return. After writing this up in the medical journal, he revealed that at least twelve others had had the same results. Twenty years later, he continues to eat his cherries or drink cherry juice and he remains in good health.

Ankylosing spondylitis. A rarer kind of arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis affects men more than women. Muscle stiffness can occur, but when all the joints of the spine are involved, a humpback might result. Conventional treatment is only symptomatic, which means aspirin or cortisone is given to the patient to relieve pain.

According to John R. J. Sorneson, Ph.D., in "The Journal of International Academy of Metabology," Vol. I, No. 2, page 7, 1978, Ankylosing Spondylitis and other arthritis diseases have been cured by a special chelate copper preparation and 89% of 1,140 patients had been free of the disease for at least three years.

At the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Francis Pottinger fed one group of cats cooked meat and cooked milk. The cats developed arthritis on this diet and died of it. The more the meat and the milk was cooked, the quicker they developed arthritis. Another controlled group of cats was fed raw food and never developed arthritis. Then, when this controlled group was eventually fed the cooked meat and cooked milk, they, too, developed arthritis. When the heat, pain and swelling disappears within a few days after eating uncooked and unprocessed foods, you will not care why it happened; you will just be thankful that they disappeared.

There is no longer any excuse for this painful arthritis condition to exist. It can only be done by you and you alone. But you will have to study and learn from this book and others. Your public library is filled with good books on the subject of nutrition therapy and arthritis. But you have to do it yourself. I repeat, it can be done if you want to.

I decided I would be devoted to the study and cure of my arthritis. I was completely exhausted from the pain and from the mental anguish that it caused. I felt there must be a way to stop it, and there is, and this is it.

Isn't that a great picture? Right now, visualize yourself within two weeks bending, and stretching, and not hurting, and throwing away all those drugs. In some cases, it will take longer, but every day there will be improvement, and you will never be as bad off as when you started this program, unless you back slide. You will be able to take a trip on just the money you save from drugs alone.

Take Mrs. A. C., who, at 51, had severe arthritis in the left hip. She needed crutches to walk, but liked her sweets and coffee breaks. She hated salads, never ate raw fruit, just sweets. Her diet was cooked foods and canned fruits and plenty of donuts, coffee and sweets. She felt she could not break the habit, but the pain finally got too bad. After a few days trying the more healthful way of eating, she found the new diet of raw foods, fruits, salads, steamed vegetables, and broiled meats easy to fix and delicious. She is now healthy and pain-free.

It was, but it did not get the publicity it should have gotten. I am dedicated to seeing this change. Dr. DeForest Jarvis, who revealed folk medicine practices in his book "Folk Medicine and Arthritis." and "Fold medicine," pointed his finger at wheat foods, white flour, white sugar, pasteurized milk, muscle meats and citrus fruits as being the factors for some people in causing body deterioration.
